Attributes mark a character’s talents, where they’ve developed their natural abilities and where they fall below the mark. Attributes are broken down into Strength, Reflexes, Toughness, Intelligence, Charisma, and Willpower. Each attribute is discussed in detail on it’s own page but covers essentially what you’d think of when you hear the name.
Attributes are rated from 1 to 10, though attributes higher than 10 are certainly possible. Your average citizen of the galaxy has attributes that range from 2, for the person’s weakness, to 6 or 7 for their specialty.
Spectre characters have attributes that begin at 5 and go up from there. They are truly the best of the best.
Attributes form the basis of the game system, most rolls are made based on a character’s attributes plus or minus some modifiers. Skills do not add mechanically to rolls, rather they open up possibilities for better skilled characters, and modify the conditions of the roll.
At character creation, players get 15 points to customize their attributes with. Points are spent on a 1 to 1 basis for purchasing attributes up to 8. Buying an attribute up to 9 costs 2 points, and buying one up from 9 to 10 costs an additional 3. Thus, buying an attribute of 10 at character creation costs 8 total points.
Attributes cannot be purchased beyond 10 at character creation, but they can be brought past that level by racial bonuses, or raised above 10 later as the character levels up.
